Uttar Pradesh: Mulayam Singh Yadav hails Akhilesh Yadav for putting up tough poll fight

Visiting the party headquarters for the first time since the 2022 Assembly poll results were out, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday congratulated SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for putting up a very strong fight in the UP elections.

LUCKNOW: Visiting the party headquarters for the first time since the 2022 Assembly poll results were out, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday congratulated SP chief Akhilesh Yadav for putting up a very strong fight in the UP elections.
"Akhilesh bahut achcha larde tum. Bahut bahut badhai (Akhilesh you fought very well ... many congratulations)" Mulayam said as Akhilesh entered SP patriach's office cabin at the party headquarters and touched his feet to seek his blessings.

In the discussions that followed between the two, Mulayam complimented Akhilesh for the manner in which he led the campaign and eventually managed to dent the ruling BJP.
The SP founder reached the party headquarters around 1 pm and after meeting a few leaders present at the party office, held a detailed discussion with Akhilesh over the polls results. The two spent almost half an hour together discussing strengths of the Samajwadi Party alliance in the 2022 elections and 'moves' of the ruling BJP which eventually emerged victorious.
"Netaji repeatedly congratulated the SP national president for the manner in which he led the entire election campaign and took on the BJP poll machinery on every front, be it addressing election rallies, preparing the party manifesto keeping in mind farmers, traders, jobless youth and price rise or countering allegations and poll rhetoric of the top BJP leaders," said SP national spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary.
"Netaji was categorical when he appreciated Akhilesh Yadav for playing all his cards correctly to prove that he was capable of causing a major dent to the BJP," Chaudhary said talking to TOI on Sunday.
The veteran politician, who had fought many an elections during his political innings spanning overing six decades starting from student politics, had also addressed two election rallies in the 2022 polls despite health constraints - one for his son Akhilesh in Karhal and the other at Malhani for SP candidate Lucky Yadav, son of late Paras Nath Yadav, one of the closest friends of Mulayam who stood with him through the thick and thin of Yadav chieftain's political career.
